Laboratory - Quality Control
At Green Analytical Laboratories it is our goal to produce high quality data with precision and accuracy in a timely and cost effective manner. The quality assurance program executed in our laboratories ensures that every aspect of sample handling, analysis, and data reporting is done in a manner which complies with state accreditation authorities and individual client needs. Green Analytical is committed to continuous improvement of personnel and instrumentation and to providing a customized service for a diverse clientele.
Internal audits are performed once per year at a minimum and are designed to examine the laboratories' data quality, efficiency, safety, equipment maintenance, and record keeping. Laboratory technical directors track samples through each function of the analytical process to ensure that state compliance protocols and customer requirements are being satisfied. Teamwork among quality control directors, analysts, and technicians enable the internal audit program to serve as a successful method for improving all laboratory processes.
Green Analytical Laboratories participates in the State of Colorado's drinking water compliance program. Green Analytical's affiliate laboratory, Cardinal Laboratories, participates in the NELAC accreditation program as administered through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Each program involves on-site audits, which are conducted once every two years at a minimum. In addition to external inspections, the laboratory performs Performance Evaluations (PEs) at a program specified interval, to ensure that the laboratory meets the frequency and quality criteria for each certification type, such as WS (water supply) for drinking water and WP (water pollution) for wastewater. Additional studies are performed on occasion as internal blind audits.
Standard quality control requirements include successful (method specific requirements) analysis of a prepared calibration curve, second source, blank, spike, and duplicate data for each data set as well as continuing calibration and blank verification for sample sets of twenty or smaller. This represents the minimum quality control requirements for a data set analyzed at Green Analytical, although some methods or clients call for more extensive sets of QC. A primary objective of both internal and external audit programs is to ensure that these quality control requirements are always acceptable based on our client's specific needs. For more information on quality control parameters, please feel free to contact Green Analytical Laboratories' management team or quality assurance director.
